In one of the biggest tax relief ever in the history, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced a big relief for the common man as it exempted income tax on personal income for upto Rs 12 lakhs per annum.

FM Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2025 has so far emphasized investment as a key growth driver, focusing on people, the economy, and innovation. Under the Sashakt Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 programs, nutritional support will benefit over 8 crore children, pregnant and lactating women, and 20 lakh adolescent girls, with enhanced cost norms. Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in 50,000 government schools, alongside expanded broadband connectivity. Cancer care will improve with daycare centres in all district hospitals, and 200 centres will be established in FY 2025-26. Urban livelihoods will also be strengthened to support vulnerable groups.
A National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management will be established in Bihar to boost food processing, enhance farmers' incomes, and create employment opportunities. Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) will continue supporting 7.7 crore farmers, fishermen, and dairy producers, with the loan limit increased from ₹3,000 to ₹5,000. These measures aim to promote agricultural growth, innovation, and economic stability.

She says that NIL tax slab has been increased..But actually it is not so. For example, in the present case, if the total income doesn’t exceed 12 lakh, no tax. It is not NiL tax slab. If the income exceeds 12 lakh, then the tax payer should pay tax from four lakh!! What a nonsense!! If it exceeds by rupee one, he shall pay tax of Rs.60000.00!!
